La Sierrita is primitive camping with a few thoughtfully placed improvements that make setting up camp, cooking dinner and enjoying the desert considerably more comfortable.
Pilot Rock Fire Ring
A 32-inch Pilot Rock fire ring includes a cooking grate, giving you a proper place for an evening fire and outdoor cooking.
Shade Structure
A dedicated 12-by-12-foot shade structure gives you a comfortable place to escape the midday West Texas sun.
Aluminum Picnic Table
A six-foot Pilot Rock aluminum picnic table sits beneath the shade structure for meals, maps, games or morning coffee.
Graded Tent Area
A graded area provides a convenient place to pitch your tent without having to search the desert for level ground.

La Sierrita sits very near the entrance to Big Bend Ranch State Park, putting some of the region's most dramatic scenery and outdoor recreation practically in your backyard.
The campsite is also near La Junta, one of the most culturally significant areas in the Southwest — a place where people have lived, traveled and gathered for thousands of years.

Remote Without Requiring a 4x4
Unlike Star Party, La Sierrita doesn't require a dedicated off-road vehicle. The ranch roads have been improved and can be traveled by a sedan when driven carefully and with discretion.
